Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector-26, Chandigarh, has released a Special Volume of its interdisciplinary research journal “Gyankosh” to commemorate the 350th Martyrdom Day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the Ninth Guru of the Sikh faith and a global symbol of human rights and religious freedom.
Published under the aegis of the Sikh Educational Society, Chandigarh, Gyankosh (ISSN: 2581-8252) is an annual double-blind peer-reviewed journal, accredited A+ by NAAC. The December 2025 special volume brings together scholarly contributions from diverse disciplines, reflecting the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, critical inquiry, and social responsibility.
While releasing the volume, Dr. Jatinder Kaur, Principal and Patron of the journal, highlighted that Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s martyrdom in 1675 marked a historic and peaceful stand against oppression and forced conversions. Revered as “Srisht Di Chadar,” Guru Sahib’s supreme sacrifice continues to inspire humanity with the values of courage, compassion, justice, and Sarbat da Bhala—the welfare of all.
The volume includes research papers, reviews, and critical analyses spanning history, psychology, sociology, sports studies, environmental concerns, digital culture, and women empowerment. The publication also pays special academic tribute to the enduring relevance of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s legacy in contemporary discourse on human rights and freedom of conscience.
The journal has been meticulously edited by Dr. Surinder Kaur (Editor), with Dr. Harneet Kaur, Dr. Savneet, and Ms. Sukhdeep Kaur as Co-Editors, and Dr. Pooja Jain as Sub-Editor, supported by a dedicated technical and editorial team.
PG Department of Commerce, in collaboration with Bajaj Finserv, organised a 120-hour certificate programme on Insurance, Banking & Finance. The programme aimed to equip students with practical industry knowledge, enhancing their employability skills. It included HR & communication skill workshops, making them future-ready. Certificates were awarded to students upon completion. Principal, Dr Jatinder Kaur congratulated the students and appreciated the efforts of the placement team of the college.

GGSCW-26 was imbued with the vibrant spirit of unity, tradition, and festivity as Lohri was celebrated with great enthusiasm on 13th January 2026. Organized by the DSW team, the celebration brought together students, faculty, and staff for a lively cultural gathering. The event began with the ceremonial lighting of the traditional bonfire, marking the essence of the harvest festival. Principal Dr. Jatinder Kaur, along with other faculty members, lit the bonfire and addressed the gathering on this auspicious occasion. The atmosphere resonated with traditional folk melodies, including “Sundar Mundariye,” as participants offered peanuts, popcorn, sesame seeds, and jaggery to the sacred fire as part of the rituals. The celebrations concluded on an energetic note, creating joyful and lasting memories. With the participation of students and faculty members, the Lohri celebration at GGSCW-26 stood as a testament to cultural harmony and the importance of preserving traditional heritage within an academic setting.
Showcasing remarkable proficiency and conviction, Akoijam Jessita, a B.A. 3rd-year student of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26, Chandigarh, clinched the first prize in the Debate Competition at the Panjab University Interzonal Youth and Heritage Festival held at A.S. College, Khanna, on November 10th, 2025. Her victory brought immense pride to the college, celebrating her as a shining example of talent and determination. The college is immensely proud of her achievement.
On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the National Song “Vande Mataram,” the students and faculty of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26, Chandigarh, assembled at 9:50 a.m. for its collective rendition. The event was a stirring tribute to the enduring spirit of patriotism, unity, and cultural pride that binds us as a nation. Principal Dr. Jatinder Kaur appreciated the sincere efforts of all participants, appreciating their enthusiastic involvement and the heartfelt expression of national solidarity and devotion that marked the celebration.
To mark the 5th anniversary of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), the VADA Club of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women organized an awareness activity where students and faculty members formed a human chain depicting the letters ‘NMBA’. The event aimed to promote the idea of a drug-free India and to encourage students to lead healthy and addiction-free lives.
The students participated with great enthusiasm and commitment, forming the human chain as a symbol of unity against substance abuse. The activity helped spread awareness among students and the community about the harmful effects of drug addiction and the importance of making responsible lifestyle choices.

The VADA Club of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women organized a Movie Screening Session aimed at raising awareness about drug abuse and its detrimental effects on an individual’s health, career, and overall life.
The movie “Sanju”, a biopic based on the life of actor Sanjay Dutt, was screened to highlight the consequences of substance abuse. Following the screening, Dr. Lucky Malhotra and Dr. Pooja Jain, the Nodal Officers of the Club, encouraged the students to share their reflections and lessons learned from the film. The students actively participated in the discussion, expressing how drug abuse had adversely impacted the actor’s personal, professional, and family life. They also pledged to spread awareness within society about staying away from drugs.
The session was highly engaging and well-received by the participants. Principal Dr. Jatinder Kaur appreciated the initiative of the VADA Club for taking meaningful steps to sensitize students about the harmful effects of drug abuse.
Khushiyan De Rang, Masti De Sang! The vibrant cultural extravaganza ROOBAROO 2K25 lit up the stage at Mata Ganga Auditorium, Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26, Chandigarh, on 4th November 2025. Organised jointly by Mata Kheevi Hostel (GGSCW) and Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Hostel (SGGSC), the evening brought together colours of creativity, culture, and camaraderie. Highlights of the evening included mesmerizing solo and group dance performances — from classical to Bollywood, Haryanvi to Manipuri — along with soulful duet singing, engaging fun activities, and a dazzling Mr. & Ms. Roobaroo contest. The event was graced by the esteemed patrons- Dr. Jatinder Kaur, Principal Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Chandigarh and Dr. Jaswinder Singh, Principal Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Chandigarh, whose presence inspired the participants. A special note of gratitude to Advocate Karandeep Singh Cheema, Joint Secretary, SES for his valuable guidance and constant support in organising this event. His encouragement truly added strength and spirit to Roobaroo 2K25.
