Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector-26, Chandigarh released the fourth volume of its annual e-journal titled “Gyankosh: An Interdisciplinary Journal" on 31st December, 2021.

Through this journal, the College endeavors to nurture an environment where researchers, authors, collaborators and scholars across all the disciplines are inspired to do their best in their respective subjects based on their perspectives, life experiences and skills.

Dr Jatinder Kaur , Principal of the College and Patron  of the Journal, Dr Surinder Kaur , Editor of the Journal, Dr Madhur and Dr Navjot Kaur, Co-editors of the Journal have worked diligently to release  this issue. The publication has witnessed quality papers from scholars across various fields.




The Post Graduate Department of Commerce and Placement Cell of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26, Chandigarh, organised a two day webinar under the aegis of IQAC Cell and in collaboration with Career Launcher.The webinar was held on 29th and 30th November, 2021.

Ms. Sapna Kala from Career Launcher was the eminent speaker for the webinar. On the first day, she enlightened the students on 'Employability and Soft Skills', highlighting the difference between the two. She dwelled on the importance of acquiring these life skills for career advancement as well as for personal growth, citing real life case studies.

On the second day of the webinar, the speaker elaborated on the need and importance of language and communication skills. She discussed the essentials of effective communication skills and body language. She emphasised on honing communication skills for improved proficiency by quoting practical examples. The webinar ended with a Q&A session.

As many as 70 students of the Department of Commerce participated and interacted with the speaker during the session. The Principal of the College, Dr. Jatinder Kaur congratulated the Department of Commerce and Placement Cell of the College for organising such an insightful and informative webinar which got an overwhelming feedback from the students.


'Interstellar', the Science Club of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26 Chandigarh organised an Inter College Short Film Making Competition on the theme 'Look Around You, Can You Find Science!!' on 13th January 2022. The event was sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology and Renewable Energy, Chandigarh Administration. Mr. Amit Kumar from JNV Theog, Shimla was the judge for the competition.

The main objective of this competition was to spread awareness about the significance of science in our daily lives and show how creative expression helps clarify scientific concepts. As many as 25 students from various colleges participated enthusiastically and showcased their creativity in science by making short videos using common household items. Ms. Anjali and Ms. Nikita from GGSCW-26, Chandigarh bagged the first and second prize respectively. Ms. Rooppreet Kaur from PGGCG-42, Chandigarh and Mr. Mohd Abdulla from PGGC-46, Chandigarh won the third prize. Ms Vaishvani from GGSCW-26, Chandigarh won the consolation prize.

The Principal, Dr. Jatinder Kaur, congratulated the winners and appreciated the efforts of Dr. Sujata Vohra, Convenor of the Science Club, in organising a competition on this vital topic and encouraged the students to participate in more such events.
