The NSS Volunteers of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26, Chandigarh, enthusiastically participated in the “Run for Unity” programme organized by the Chandigarh NSS Cell, Education Department, in collaboration with the Chandigarh Administration at Sukhna Lake on 31st October, 2025. The event was held to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, fondly known as the Iron Man of India. The objective of the programme was to promote national unity, community participation, and public awareness under the theme “Ek Bharat, Viksit Bharat.” The volunteers participated with great zeal and dedication, reflecting the values of unity, integrity, and social responsibility inspired by Sardar Patel’s vision of a united and progressive India. Principal, Dr Jatinder Kaur, applauded the efforts of the NSS Unit for the active participation and commendable spirit in upholding the ideals of national integration and service.
The NSS Unit of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Chandigarh, organized an Essay Writing Competition on 30th October 2025 to mark the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on the topic “Role of Sardar Patel in National Integration and Unity.” Dr. Amandeep Kaur, Assistant Professor in the Department of History, SGGS College, Sector 26, Chandigarh, delivered an inspiring lecture on “Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel: The Iron Man of India.” Principal Dr. Jatinder Kaur appreciated the efforts of the NSS Unit and distributed prizes to the winners, while Dr. Harneet, Associate Professor in the PG Department of English, served as judge and shared her expert remarks.
Students also took a pledge to follow the path shown by Sardar Patel and uphold the unity and integrity of the nation.
Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26, Chandigarh, welcomed its first-year undergraduate and postgraduate students with a vibrant freshers' party. The event was a celebration of music, dance, and talent, showcasing the college's spirit and enthusiasm. The event featured captivating performances by senior students, including a variety of dance performances that mesmerized the freshers. The ramp walk was a major highlight, where participants showcased their confidence and stage presence. Ms. Ruchika Verma was crowned Miss Fresher with Prerna and Ruchika Nameirakpam (B.A.) securing the first and second runner-up positions, respectively. Other titles awarded included Miss Charming Meharpreet Kaur and Miss Elegant The celebration continued with a DJ session, a themed photo booth, and a food stall organized by the Saksham Self-Help Group. Principal Dr. Jatinder Kaur addressed the gathering, encouraging students to seize every opportunity for growth and participate actively in extracurricular activities. She congratulated the winners and welcomed the freshers to the college community.
The Rotaract Club of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector-26, Chandigarh organised its annual Installation Ceremony on September 29, 2025 to welcome the new members. The occasion was graced by Rtn. J. S. Bawa President, Vice President Rtn. Pradeep Sisodia, Dr. Manu and Prof I S Dua from the Rotary Chandigarh Midtown.They felicitated the new President Ms. Akoijam Jesita, Vice President and Treasurer Yaiphabi Khuaijam, Secretary Ms.Komal Joshi, and other newly appointed office-bearers of the club with badges and wished them a bright future. The new members shared their proposed goals for the coming session and promised to uphold the spirit of service and strive towards making the society a better place. The Principal Dr Jatinder Kaur congratulated the new members of the board and appreciated the efforts of the club coordinators, Ms Maninder Kaur and Dr Anju Bala in organising the event.
Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26, Chandigarh, celebrated National Sports Day with immense enthusiasm on August 29, 2025. The Department of Physical Education and VADA Club organized the event to honor the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. The celebration commenced with Dr. Aman Thour, Head of the Department of Physical Education & Sports, highlighting the significance of sports in daily life. A high-energy aerobics session followed, where approximately 150 students participated, showcasing their passion for fitness. The event concluded with Dr. Lucky Malhotra, Coordinator of VADA Club, delivering an inspiring talk on the importance of regular physical activity and a drug-free lifestyle.

The NCC Army Wing at Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, sector -26, Chandigarh conducted an enrollment drive wherein around 50 interested cadets participated . The selection procedure included physical fitness test , medical test and an interview conducted by ANO Lt Dr Ritu Dhanoa and instructors from NCC unit .
GGSCW-26 students, showcased their talent at the Panjab University Zonal Youth Festival, being held at GGDSD College, Sector-32, Chandigarh from 25-26th October and 1-2nd November, 2025. They brought laurels to the college by winning prizes in various literary events: Prabhjot Kaur of BA III got first prize in Story Writing and Ritika Sabharwal of BCom II won third prize in Handwriting Competition (English). Akoijam Jesita of BA III won second prize in the debate competition while Nishtha Raghav of BCom II bagged third position in the poem recitation competition. Participants of the Dramatics Team also delivered a commendable performance at the Youth Festival, bringing home three awards across multiple categories. In Mimicry, Madhu secured the 3rd position with a well-received act. The dynamic duo of Sanjana Joshi and Harman earned the 3rd position in the Bhand category, showcasing strong teamwork and stage presence. The Skit team— consisting of Saniya, Madhu, Suhani, Harpreet Kaur, Laxmi, Payal, Muskan, Hezal, and Ritika— achieved an impressive 2nd place finish, highlighting both creativity and group coordination. Overall, the events were a remarkable display of talent, engaging performances, and collaborative spirit among the young participants.
GGSCW won two silver and a bronze medal in Panjab University Judo (Women) Inter-college Championship held on October 24th & 25th, 2025 at Khalsa College for Women, Civil lines, Ludhiana.
Continuing the winning streak, GGSCW Basketball team also won silver medal in Panjab University Inter College Basketball Championship held at KCW Ludhiana from 24/10/25 to 26/10/25.
The Red Ribbon Club and NSS Unit of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26, Chandigarh, in collaboration with Bhai Kanhaiya Health Care Centre, organized a one-day Free Health Check-up Camp on 25th September 2025. The camp offered essential services including blood sugar, blood pressure, haemoglobin, body weight, and blood grouping tests. A total of 163 students, along with teaching and non-teaching staff, enthusiastically participated in the initiative. The event aimed to spread awareness about health and wellness. Principal Dr. Jatinder Kaur appreciated and applauded the dedicated efforts of the Red Ribbon Club and NSS Unit.
NSS day celebrated at GGSCW The NSS Unit of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women organised a Free Eye Check-up Camp at the Community Centre, Kishangarh, the college’s adopted village, on the occasion of NSS DAY.. The camp aimed to spread awareness about eye health and provide essential check-up facilities to the local residents. A large number of villagers benefitted from the initiative, receiving consultation and guidance from medical experts. Free medicines were also distributed to those in need. The camp was held under the guidance of the NSS Programme Officers, with active support from volunteers. Dr. Jatinder Kaur, Principal of the college, appreciated the efforts of the NSS team and emphasised the importance of such outreach activities in promoting community welfare. The initiative reflected the institution’s commitment towards social responsibility and healthcare support for underserved communities.
VADA CLUB of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women in collaboration with NSS Unit and the Alcoholics Anonymous, Chandigarh Under the Aegis of Directorate of Higher Education, Chandigarh Administration organized an awareness program on "Alcoholism and Alcoholics Anonymous" on 2oth September, 2025. The theme of the session was “Awareness is the First Step Towards Recovery.” The session highlighted the rising issue of alcoholism, its psychological and social impacts, and the importance of collective support in recovery. With inspiring talks and personal stories, participants were encouraged to reflect on resilience, discipline, and healthier life choices. The programme, guided by Mr Sanjeev K., CPC Chairman, Alcoholics Anonymous, Chandigarh, shared his valuable insights and experiences. Besides this his team members who are Alcoholics Anonymous gave a presentation on the effects of Alcoholism and how their members now lead a purposeful life without alcohol. The session witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 90 students, making it an enriching and impactful learning experience. Principal, Dr Jatinder Kaur motivated students to stay away from substance abuse and move towards self-development and applauded the efforts of the team members of the VADA Club and the NSS Unit of the college.
The Placement Cell of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector-26, Chandigarh, in collaboration with Chanakya IAS Academy, successfully organized a Career Guidance Seminar titled "Art of Success" on September 19, 2025. The seminar aimed to motivate and guide students to consider the UPSC Civil Services Examination as a prospective career option. Mr. Abhishek Gaur, a subject expert from Chanakya IAS Academy, provided valuable insights on the structure and stages of the UPSC examination, strategies for preparation, time management, and the importance of developing a disciplined study routine. The session encouraged interactive discussion, enabling students to gain clarity about the opportunities and challenges of a career in the civil services. Around 50 students from various streams enthusiastically participated in the programme, setting focused goals and beginning early preparation for success in UPSC. The principal of the college, Dr. Jatinder Kaur, appreciated Mr. Abhishek Gaur for his engaging presentation and the Placement Cell for organizing this valuable career guidance initiative. The seminar proved to be highly informative and inspiring, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the UPSC examination and the opportunities it offers. The Placement Cell's efforts in organizing such initiatives are commendable, and it is expected that such programs will continue to benefit students in their career pursuits.
NMBA Hostel Committee, under the VADA Club, organized an Orientation Program for hostellers to raise awareness about drug abuse and its harmful effects on health, career, and life. The ten-member NMBA Hostel Committee for the 2025–26 session was introduced. Students were encouraged to test their fitness through core strength and flexibility challenges. All hostellers participated enthusiastically in activities such as plank holds, balancing poses (one-leg stand, warrior pose), and splits. The session was thoroughly enjoyed, while also delivering an important message on staying fit and drug-free. At the end, all students took a pledge to remain drug-free and to contribute in every possible way towards making our country free from drugs.

To mark the 5th anniversary of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), the VADA Club of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women organized an awareness activity where students and faculty members formed a human chain depicting the letters ‘NMBA’. The event aimed to promote the idea of a drug-free India and to encourage students to lead healthy and addiction-free lives.

The VADA Club of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women organized a Movie Screening Session aimed at raising awareness about drug abuse and its detrimental effects on an individual’s health, career, and overall life.
The movie “Sanju”, a biopic based on the life of actor Sanjay Dutt, was screened to highlight the consequences of substance abuse. Following the screening, Dr. Lucky Malhotra and Dr. Pooja Jain, the Nodal Officers of the Club, encouraged the students to share their reflections and lessons learned from the film. The students actively participated in the discussion, expressing how drug abuse had adversely impacted the actor’s personal, professional, and family life. They also pledged to spread awareness within society about staying away from drugs.

Khushiyan De Rang, Masti De Sang! The vibrant cultural extravaganza ROOBAROO 2K25 lit up the stage at Mata Ganga Auditorium, Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26, Chandigarh, on 4th November 2025. Organised jointly by Mata Kheevi Hostel (GGSCW) and Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Hostel (SGGSC), the evening brought together colours of creativity, culture, and camaraderie. Highlights of the evening included mesmerizing solo and group dance performances — from classical to Bollywood, Haryanvi to Manipuri — along with soulful duet singing, engaging fun activities, and a dazzling Mr. & Ms. Roobaroo contest. The event was graced by the esteemed patrons- Dr. Jatinder Kaur, Principal Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Chandigarh and Dr. Jaswinder Singh, Principal Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Chandigarh, whose presence inspired the participants. Demonstrating excellence in theatre and performing arts, the teams secured multiple awards, reflecting their dedication and artistic talent. In the Play category, the team won the third Prize for their thought-provoking and well-executed performance. The team’s coordinated effort earned appreciation from judges and spectators alike. The Mime team also brought laurels to the college by securing the third Prize for their expressive and creative presentation. Their performance was admired for its depth, precision, and effective communication without the use of words. An individual third Prize was also awarded in the Play category to Sanjana Joshi (B.Com 3), recognizing an exceptional solo performance that contributed significantly to the overall success of the team.

During her college years, Amanjot was a key player and consistent performer who made remarkable contributions to our college cricket team’s victories in the Panjab University Inter-College Cricket Tournaments in 2018 and 2019. Amanjot represented Team India in the ICC Women’s World Cup held in Mumbai, where the Indian team emerged as the champions. Her dedication, talent, and perseverance have made her an inspiration for all aspiring sportspersons of our college.
