LOHRI CELEBRATIONS AT GGSCW-26 The festival of Lohri was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector-26, Chandigarh. The Girls looked radiant in traditional attire and rejoiced in celebration around the bonfire to the tunes of Punjabi songs. Principal, Dr. Charanjeet Kaur Sohi inaugurated the function by kindling the festive bonfire. The spirit of the festival came alive as the students and the teachers joined in the folk song “Sunder Mundriye…. “ The celebration culminated with the distribution of traditional sweets among the students and the staff.

 

FOUNDERS DAY CELEBRATED AT GGSCW-26 The campus of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women at Sector 26- Chandigarh echoed with melodious rendition of Gurbani Kirtan as the students and staff celebrated the College Founder’s Day. The Three day event was marked to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. The kirtan was performed by Hajuri Raagi Bhai Sahib “Bhai Shaukeen Singh ji” and Gurmat Vichar were delivered by Singh Sahib Giani Balwinder Singh ji, who focused on the life of the tenth Sikh Guru and tenets of Sikhism. S. Gurdev Singh Brar , President SES and Col.(Retd.) J.S. Bala , Secretary SES graced the occasion. Col. J.S.Bala appreciated the efforts of the Principal, Dr Charanjeet Kaur Sohi, along with the staff and students in successfully organizing the function. It was followed by Guru ka Langar prepared and served by students and members of the staff.

 

Sh. Rakesh Kumar Popli, Director Higher Education Chandigarh inaugurated the Library blog of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26 , Chandigarh. The blog shares the vision and mission of the college; students will be able to access e-newspapers like The Indian Express, The Tribune, The Times of India and many more. It not only includes e-resources like N list, Directory of Open Access Journals, Directory of Open access reposit, Environmental health perspective, health information and library Journal etc but also has access to old question papers and latest syllabus.

S. Gurdev Singh, President Sikh Educational Society , Col. J.S Bala , Secretary and Dr.Charanjeet Kaur Sohi, Principal of the college were also present during the inauguration. Sh. Popli appreciated the initiative and urged the students to focus on gaining knowledge through effective use of library.
