Students and staff of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women were elated on the third Gold Medal bagged by their Under-Graduate student NITU at Youth World Boxing Championship at Hungary. Nitu, who is World Youth Boxing Champion, has also won Asian Youth Boxing Championship 2018, World Boxing Championship 2017 and Siberia Boxing Championship in July 2018. This Second year student of Arts has brought laurels for the institution. Principal, Dr Jatinder Kaur appreciated her efforts and motivated students to walk in her footsteps.

NSS Wing of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26, Chandigarh organised a fund raiser for the collection of necessary items for the victims of the Kerala floods. Students and faculty members made generous donations towards the relief effort. College Principal, Dr. Jatinder Kaur applauded the efforts of the volunteers and encouraged them to keep on serving the society.

Joyful exuberance and high spirits marked the Freshers’ Party organized by the students and staff of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26 on August 24, 2018. The purpose of the event was to make the new students feel like an integral part of the college family. The young girls looked radiant in their best attires.

 The event was set on course by a spectrum of items with foot-tapping music, including Manipuri, Classical, Western and Punjabi dance performances, and modelling. The audience was kept enthralled with the pomp on stage. The young performers were encouraged and supported by their seniors and teachers.

The newly elected members - President Muskan, Vice President Divya Verma, Secretary Manjeet Kaur, and Joint Secretary Simran, along with the Executive Members and Class Representatives of the various streams were formally sworn in.

On September 14, 2018, Hindi Diwas was celebrated in Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26, Chandigarh. The event was coordinated by Dr. Aradhna Mehtani of the Hindi Department and presided over by the Principal, Dr. Jatinder Kaur. On this occasion, students recited poems on the topic ‘Stree Vimash’.

The importance of bilingualism was discussed, and it was brought to light that Hindi and English are not opposing languages. The importance of staying connected to one’s roots and one’s mother tongue was illuminated. Knowledge of one’s mother tongue is a matter of pride. Hindi was the language of our freedom struggle. Hindi unites the people of diverse cultures in our country and serves as a lingua franca.
